Ingredients

  • 8 ounces uncooked egg noodles
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon coarse kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth

Instructions

  • In a large (12-inch) skillet, add the ground beef, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, salt and Italian seasoning.
  • Cook the meat over medium-high heat, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until cooked through, about 10 minutes. Transfer to a plate.
  • Add the butter into the now-empty skillet.
  • Once the butter is melted, add flour and cook, stirring constantly, until the flour starts to brown and smells slightly nutty, about 1 minute.
  • Slowly add the beef broth while whisking continuously.
  • Add the beef back and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is thickened to the desired thickness.
  • Stir in the noodles and garnish with fresh parsley or green onions.

Notes

Storing Tips:
- Store any leftover ground beef and noodles in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- We recommend reheating on the stove in a skillet for a couple of minutes until warmed through. Add a splash of beef broth if the sauce is too thick. The microwave also works well for reheating in a pinch, just heat in intervals and stir frequently.
- Avoid freezing ground beef and noodles, once the dish is thawed the dish often becomes mushy in texture.
