Taco Salad (with Doritos)

Salad night is guaranteed to be a hit when you serve Dorito Taco Salad, made with only a handful of ingredients in 30 minutes or less!

Equipment

  • 1 large skillet
  • 1 large bowl
  • 1 serving platter

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef Note 1
  • ¼ cup taco seasoning Note 2
  • ¾ cup water
  • 3 heads romaine lettuce chopped and washed
  • 10 ounces black beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup sliced cherry or grape tomatoes Note 3
  • ¾ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 ½ cups lightly crushed Doritos nacho cheese flavor
  • 1 cup Catalina dressing Note 4

Instructions
 

  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until no longer pink. Drain any excess grease.
  • Add the taco seasoning and water to the skillet. Stir well to combine. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is fully coated in seasoning.
  • In a large bowl, combine the chopped lettuce, black beans, sliced tomatoes, shredded cheese, and seasoned ground beef. Toss well to combine.
  • Transfer the tossed salad to a serving platter or large salad bowl, top with the crushed doritos and drizzle on the catalina dressing.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Note 1: You can use ground turkey or chicken as a healthier option for this recipe. 
Note 2: Use homemade taco seasoning or a store-bought packet. 
Note 3: You can customize your salad by adding other vegetables such as peppers, onions, avocado, or corn. 
Note 4: You can use other dressings such as Ranch, French dressing, Thousand Island, or even Italian dressing. 
Storing Tips:
- You can prepare all the ingredients the day before.
- Store them in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator.
- To serve, toss the ingredients together with the Catalina dressing and ground beef.
- Warm the ground beef beforehand, if desired.
